Timers
[edit | edit source]The user timers in devices C and D are divided as follows: the odd timers are always enabled, and the even timers have to be enabled from the 'enabled' input, and will follow the FELIX gun.
FELIX
[edit | edit source]A2 FELIX gun RF trigger
[edit | edit source]A2 = VSWR && S72
A3 FELIX 3GHz RF trigger
[edit | edit source]A3 = (VSWR && S73) && A2
E3 FELIX AWG + Cameras
[edit | edit source]The open collector output of E3 is combined with E7 to form the input of the AWG.
E3 = S1
E4 FELIX 3GHz RF without beam
[edit | edit source]This timer exists to workaround the issue that sometimes a Klystron can have a 'bad shot', causing beam loss and an interrupt of the timing system. It was noted that the first shot after such an interrupt could again be bad, leading the system into a cycle of interuptions. This timer will keep on giving short 'conditioning' pulses to the Klystron while the beam loss monitor is waiting to resume. Currently only implemented for FELIX. On the to do list is 1) checking to see it this is still necessary 2) sharing this timer also with FELICE.
E4 = VSWR && S73
B2 FELICE gun RF trigger
[edit | edit source]B2 = (VSWR && S74) && M110
B3 FELICE 3GHz RF trigger
[edit | edit source]B3 = (VSWR && S75) && (VSWR && S74)
E7 FELICE AWG + Cameras
[edit | edit source]The open collector output of E3 is combined with E7 to form the input of the AWG.
E7 = S5
Procedures
[edit | edit source]Switching between 10 Hz and 20 Hz FELIX+FELICE total frequency
[edit | edit source]In case one of the klystrons can only run 10 Hz in stead of 20 Hz, simultaneous operation of FELIX and FELICE (@ max. 5 Hz each) can be accommodated by switching the input frequency from 1 kHz to 500 Hz using the button on the 'Start Pulse Generator' page of the timer GUI , and changing the width of timer B8 from 49900 (value @ 1 kHz) to 99900 (value @ 500 Hz).
