oc-control is the server that controls the undulator and the optical cavity of FLARE.
Hardware
[edit | edit source]oc-control has two NI 7330 cards, for controlling the undulator and the optical cavity.
Cavity
[edit | edit source]The card's Serial Number is 21266870 (0x14481B6). Axis 1: Cavity length Axis 2: Cavity slit motor 1 Axis 3: Cavity slit motor 1 Axis 4: not in use
The cavity should be homed towards its positive limit (maximum length). This position is defined as +6 mm. Use NI-MAX 1-D Interactive on this axis, and "Reset Position" to 75260000 steps. The cavity zero position is at 7520 mm, i.e. 75200000 steps on the stepper motor driver. The reverse switch should come on at about -31 mm (i.e. 74890639 steps).
Undulator
[edit | edit source]The card's Serial Number is 21266866 (0x14481B2). Axis 1: Upstream Axis 2: Downstream
The forward direction corresponds to decreasing gap.
Picomotors
[edit | edit source]There are picomotors controlling the pitch/yaw of the cavity mirrors. These are controlled by a picomotor driver connected via USB (using a Prolific USB-COM adapter identifible in Device Manager by this Device Instance Path USB\VID_067B&PID_2303\7&5256E5F&0&1).
Software
[edit | edit source]Undulator and Cavity length
[edit | edit source]These are controlled by Python/LabVIEW programs
Cavity alignment
[edit | edit source]Cavity slit
[edit | edit source]Beam loss monitor
[edit | edit source]The beam loss monitor does not have non-volative memory to store its firmware, and has to be reprogrammed after each power loss/reboot. The firmware can be found in this folder
S:\User Software Installation\Drivers\oc-control\drivers\beam loss monitor firmware
For convenience, you can create a shortcut to ftconfig.exe in the Startup Menu folder (press WIN+R, type "shell:startup" and paste a shortcut in the folder that pops up).
