Howto activate network/ethernet outlets in your office/lab

CNCZ does not activate all outlets by default, we have to request them individually.

Steps to get an outlet working:

• Read the number of the outlet (probably looks like 135-1-xx-yy)
• Determine which network you would like to connect to and go the the corresponding section below

Office network

• Send an email to postmaster@science.ru.nl, with CC to v.claessen@science.ru.nl and/or g.tielemans@science.ru.nl

Dear postmaster,
Could you please connect outlet <<outlet number>> to vLAN 14.
Kind regards,
<<signature>>

Any other network

• Send an email to v.claessen@science.ru.nl and/or g.tielemans@science.ru.nl explaining why you need outlet <<outlet number>> activated into <<that network>>.

Virtual LAN - a local area network that maps devices on a basis other than geographic location, for example, by department, type of user, or primary application. Traffic that flows between different VLANs must go through a router, just as if the VLANs are on two separate LANs.
